If you’re wondering what Sean Durkin has been cooking after “The Iron Claw,” he’s supposedly in talks to board HBO’s “Lanterns,” and will be directing a “handful” of episodes for the limited series.
“Lanterns,” which is being described as having “gritty True Detective vibes.” Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey are now rumored to be the frontrunners. Josh Brolin turned down an offer for the role.
“Lanterns” will tackle two intergalactic cops (Hal Jordan and John Stewart) investigating a murder in the American heartland. Nathan Fillion is set to co-star in the series as Guy Gardner. No word yet on whether Gardner or Jordan will be portraying the Green Lantern as both characters have done so in the comics.
Damon Lindelof (‘Watchmen”) is an executive producer on the show. Chris Mundy (“Ozark”) serves as the showrunner. Stephen Williams (“Chevalier”) and Lucy Tcherniak (“Angelyne”) are also being eyed as possible directors — Williams worked with Lindelof on “Watchmen.”
