Here’s an update on Ridley Scott’s Bee Gees biopic, which is titled “You Should Be Dancing.” Casting is currently underway for the film, and an early 2025 production start is being eyed. How early? That’ll probably depend on whether Scott’s “Gladiator II” is an awards season contender, if that’s the case then he’ll probably be campaigning until late February.
“You Should Be Dancing” was originally supposed to be directed by Kenneth Branagh, but Scott took over the reins late last year. Scott is now the fourth director to helm this project after Branagh, John Carney and Lorene Scafaria. John Logan has written the screenplay. I’m thinking, given how quickly Scott works, this one could get fast tracked for a very late 2025 release.
The Bee Gees were a highly successful musical group who produced hit after hit during the ‘70s disco era — those songs included the likes of “Staying Alive” and “How Deep is Your Love.” They also revolutionized movie music with their exemplary work on the “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack.
