One of Jeff Sneider’s sources is telling him that Brad Pitt and George Clooney were each paid $45 million to star in the upcoming Apple movie “Wolfs.”
The film is getting just one week in theaters before it begins streaming on Apple TV+. That is an insane amount of money to pay actors who are in their 60s. Why is Apple pivoting away from giving this one a legit theatrical bow? It might not even be lack of confidence since they’ve already greenlit a sequel to “Wolfs.”
As Puck’s Matt Belloni recently stated, if Apple isn't offering wide theatrical release to their films anymore, then what exactly is it offering? Their streaming paltform is nowhere near as popular as Netflix or Amazon or Disney+. Having a film with Pitt/Clooney, paying them this insane amount of money to star as the leads, and you’re just dumping it on streaming?
While we’re at it, a new full-length trailer for “Wolfs” was released yesterday. The movie is set to hit theaters in limited release on September 20th followed by an exclusive run on Apple TV+ on September 27th.
