This weekend, Pixar announced a new original film titled “Hoppers,” which has been dated for March 6, 2026 release. A rough cut of the film was recently screened for Pixar brass in California.
“Hoppers” stars Jon Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, and Piper Curda, and centers on Mabel, an animal loving girl who transfers her mind into a robot beaver to infiltrate their animal kingdom. It’s one of the rare original stories Pixar has been working on these last few years.
“Hoppers” joins other upcoming Pixar film projects including “Elio,” “Toy Story 5,” “The Incredibles 3.” No word yet on release dates for “Finding Nemo 3” and “Monsters Inc. 2,” but those are very much in development and will eventually get announced.
Pixar is coming off the immense success of “Inside Out 3” which has, so far, grossed $1.5B worldwide. Five years ago, Pixar’s CEO was implying that they would no longer be concentrating on sequels, but that turned out to be a lie. Sequels are almost all that Pixar cares about these days.
