UPDATE: 61 on Metacritic (10 reviews) 46% Rotten Tomatoes (35 reviews)
EARLIER: As I had previously reported, Warner Bros refused to screen M Night Shyamalan’s “Trap” for press. Many critics aren’t exactly sure when the review embargo actually gets lifted. It doesn’t help that Thursday previews have just started on the film — it’s now officially in theaters.
I emailed Warner Bros. to ask when the embargo lifts, and their reply was that they’d get back to me soon. I’m still waiting. At this point, it’s kind of useless to even respond back to me. Audiences are starting to watch the film as we speak.
I gather, many reviews will start trickling in tonight and tomorrow morning. Only two have so far been submitted to Rotten Tomatoes, from Australia and New Zealand — Stuff’s Graeme Tuckett and The AU Review’s Peter Gray have both panned the film.
I’m only supposed to watch “Trap” tonight, as will, I’m sure, many of our readers. Chime in here with your thoughts on it. It’s baffling how Warner Bros is trying to hide this film from critics. Based on what I’ve been hearing, “Trap” is not supposed to be that bad.
