Variety’s Clayton Davis has confirmed what was originally suspected, James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown” will be skipping all of the fall fests. The film is still in post-production and will be taking its time before it gets rolled out into theaters in December.
Searchlight Pictures’ Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” directed by James Mangold and starring Timothee Chalamet as the iconic musician, will not be screening at Telluride or any other fall festival. The film is expected to bypass all of them as it works through post-production after wrapping filming in June, aiming for a December release, similar to the timeline of “1917.”
In that same article, Davis spitballs Telluride, and almost of the titles I mentioned earlier in the week are on his list. The only true nugget that I didn’t know about is that “Babygirl,” an A24 Nicole Kidman S&M film, premiering at Venice, will not be headed to Telluride.
It looks as though the big premieres at this year’s Telluride Film Festival will be Edward Berger’s “Conclave,” RaMell Moss’ “Nickel Boys,” Morgan Neville’s “Piece By Piece,” Pablo Larrain’s “Maria,” Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The End,” Michael Gracey’s “Better Man,” Malcom Washington’s “The Piano Lesson,” Scott McGehee and David Siegel’s “The Friend” and, possibly, Jason Reitman’s “SNL 1975.”
