We’ll be getting another “Joker: Folie à Deux” trailer next Tuesday, which also happens to be the same day the Venice Film Festival announces the lineup for its 81st edition. That is not a coincidence.
Todd Phillips’ sequel, starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, is tipped for a competition slot on the Lido. Back in 2019, the original “Joker,” much to the surprise of everyone, won the prestigious Golden Lion. There was almost zero chance Venice boss Alberto Barbera wouldn’t include the sequel in his lineup.
You can read more intel on the film here. There’s reporting that ‘Folie à Deux’ is around 140 minutes, features 20+ songs, and centers on the strong bond formed between two outcasts, Arthur (Joaquin Phoenix) and Lee (Lady Gaga), at Arkham Asylum.
“Joker 2: Folie à Deux” is set for release, including in IMAX 70MM, on October 4, 2024.
