This news comes to us from one of the more reliable scoopers out there.
It seems as though Marvel head Kevin Feige’s continuous insistence for creative control has sacrificed another writer in the never-ending pre-production saga of ‘Avengers 5.’ This project keeps burning through a number of names.
The next installment of the ‘Avengers’ franchise continue to remain in limbo as it has lost yet another writer. Michael Waldron has exited the project, leaving it without a director, writer, and official title now.
The film was announced in July 2022, and was originally known as “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” The project recently lost Destin Daniel-Cretton as its director, Jeff Loveness (“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”) as a writer, Jonathan Majors as the titular antagonist, and now Waldron.
We have no idea if Kang will even be part of the movie. Feige and company better hurry up because production on the film is supposed to begin in March 2025 and run until August — that’s six months of shooting.
Some of the characters rumored to return for this fifth ‘Avengers’ movie include Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Thor, Shang-Chi and Spider-Man. Although Deadline had reported Shawn Levy as being in talks to direct, Jeff Sneider recently stated that he does not believe Levy will accept the offer.
For the time being, Waldron is still attached to “Avengers Secret Wars” which is supposed to hit theaters in 2027. ‘Avengers 5’ is currently slated to release on May 1, 2026.
