Well, if it wasn’t already confirmed, Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” is now the first major blockbuster of the summer movie season. It already nabbed a $150M opening last weekend, and the numbers have barely dropped.
“Inside Out 2” made $30M on Wednesday. That’s the third highest first Wednesday in box-office history. Yes, it grossed that on a federal holiday, but these numbers are really astonishing. The film is projected to surpass the $1B mark by July 4 weekend.
Going to the movies right now is the perfect way to escape the heat wave, and there’s no film at the moment that audiences want to see more than “Inside Out 2.” It helps that audiences seem to love the film, with high ratings on CinemaScore, IMDB, PostTrak and Rotten Tomatoes. The film is set to match the worldwide gross of ‘Dune 2,’ the most successful film of 2024, by Sunday evening.
So, what numbers are we talking about here? The film is currently projected to have a $90-100M second weekend, if it hits those numbers by Sunday then it would comfortable be at $345M domestically and $685M worldwide.
