Martin McDonagh is coming off the most acclaimed film of his career, 2022’s “The Banshees of Inisherin.” It looks like his next one will be bringing back some familiar faces.
In an interview with Hong Kong outlet RTHK, the filmmaker-playwright is hinting that his next film is the one that was announced before ‘Banshees,’ which is still untitled, that was supposed to star Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell and Oscar Isaac:
Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell. I really want to do something with them. I think the next thing might be set in an Island, not in Ireland, like in ‘Banshees,’ but again to have the island be a character. So, that’s a scoop for you, I think that’s going to be the next thing.
Notice how he doesn’t mention Isaac. Has he dropped out? Regardless, no further plot details were revealed by McDonagh, just that the film is set on an island. Rockwell has already teamed up with the filmmaker on two of his films, Walken on one.
As mentioned, McDonagh is coming off ‘Banshees’ which received nine Oscar noms, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. His other works include “In Bruges,” “Seven Psychopaths” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
