While scheduling issues have stalled Ben Affleck’s next directorial effort, “Animals,” starring Matt Damon and himself, he’s still managed to keep himself busy for the upcoming fall season.
Affleck and Damon are going to star in Joe Carnahan’s thriller “RIP.” The plan is to shoot in September/October. Plot details are being kept under wraps other than it being described as a “crime thriller”.
Deadline reports that the project is expected to find a distributor imminently as there’s been some high interest from both theatrical and streaming buyers. Will Netflix hop onboard another Affleck vehicle? They’re already distributing “Animals.”
As for Carnahan, his 2002 debut, “Narc,” which starred Ray Liotta and Jason Patric, is still his best film, followed closely by the Liam Neeson wolf thriller “The Grey.” I would put everything else he’s done in a separate category, far away from those two.
