The Academy has decided to pretend like Woody Allen’s films don’t exist.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this year's Governors Awards honorees, Taylor is going to be one of the recipients of this year’s ceremony. However, one look at the bio that came with the press release shows that Allen is not mentioned at all. This was not an accident.
Taylor is best known as the genius casting director of Allen’s most iconic films; she’s worked on a whopping 43 of his films. That’s practically half the credits in her filmography. She’s cast every one of his films from 1975 until her retirement in 2017.
Her casting of Allen’s films has resulted in seven acting Oscars, and a whopping 14 acting nominations. An unprecedented feat. When all is said and done, Contrary to what the Academy want us to believe, Taylor will best be remembered for her iconic partnership with Allen.
