‘Bad Boys 4’ is currently the movie which general American audiences are most aware of, according to The Quorum. The Will Smith/Martin Lawrence action flick is 10 points ahead of ‘Deadpool 3’. The latest inside tracking numbers I’ve seen for ‘Bad Boys 4’ currently have it at a $60 million opening — it might turn out to be much higher than that.
Smith desperately needed a post-slap hit, and I think he might have found it. The first ‘Bad Boys’ movie was shot 30 years ago. There have been three films released during that time frame, but its stars, Smith and Martin Lawrence, are still going strong.
The fourth film in the series, “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die,” is set to be released on June 7. A trailer was released and it looks like the same old shenanigans are back in this one. ‘Ride or Die’ will be driven by the playful banter of its leads and, of course, relentless Bay-esque action.
‘Ride Or Die’ is once again being directed by filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who also helmed the last one, 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life.” These are the same filmmakers who had their “Batgirl” canceled by Warner Bros. last year. I should mention that Fallah is heavily rumored, as a major contender, to direct the next ‘Spider-Man’ movie.
In ‘Ride Of Die,’ Smith and Lawrence will be joined by a cast that includes Vanessa Hudgens, DJ Khaled, Tiffany Haddish, and Joe Pantoliano. The film was written by Chris Bremner and being distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing,
I should also note that filming on ‘Ride or Die’ only wrapped filming in late March. They’ve been rushing this one in the editing room to make its June 7 release date.
