As we await his next feature-length film, set to star Adam Driver and Lea Seydoux, and shooting this fall, Leos Carax premiered his 40-minute self-portrait “C’est Pas Moi” at Cannes. A June 12 release is settled in France, with U.S. distribution yet to be announced.
The film, met with a lot of praise at its Debussy screening, now has a trailer. Many recurrent Carax characters show up in this one — it’s said to be a “chaotic and fascinating patchwork” of a film. Sadly, there was only one screening on the Croisette, which quickly sold out, and I wasn’t able to see it. Maybe I’ll request a screener.
Carax tends to take years between making films. His filmography is literally composed of just six films: 1984’s “Boy Meets Girl,” 1986’s “Mauvais Sang,” 1991’s “Lovers on the Bridge,” 1999’s “Pola X,” 2012’s “Holy Motors,” and 2021’s “Annette.”
