‘Megalopolis’ Sells in 13 Additional Countries — Still No U.S. Deal

Francis Ford Coppola‘s “Megalopolis” has closed a fresh batch of new distribution deals following its much talked about world premiere in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

Australia, Benelux, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ex- Yugoslavia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Morocco, Portugal, Romania, Scandinavia and Turkey have all secured deals to distribute the film. They join already announced deals in Italy, France, UK, Spain and Switzerland.

There are also advanced negotiations for distribution in Japan, China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Poland, and Latin America. The film is selling everywhere except in its own country. There is still no U.S. deal. Pathetic.

IMAX, Rich Gelfond, recently confirmed that they’ve booked theaters, in 20 different U.S. cities, for “Megalopolis” to be screened in late September. However, we’re not entirely sure if these plans will go on as planned if there is no U.S. distributor by late September.
