Daniel Richtman is reporting that Joseph Kosinski’s “Apex,” that $300 million F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, has had to reshoot almost anything with 2023 F1 racecars as they all changed designs and sponsors in 2024.
The result is “loads of footage” being binned. These reshoots could explain why the budget skyrocketed in recent months. Pitt is carrying a $30 million salary for this film, which, due to last year’s strikes, has been in production since July 2023 and will continue to shoot until late 2024.
“Apex” still doesn’t have a release date or a distributor attached to its name, even though Apple has begun reaching out to IMAX about booking screens. Sony and Warner Bros. are considered the favorites to nab the film. Discussions are still ongoing for a 2025 release.
The film, which stars Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies, follows a driver (Pitt) who comes out of retirement to mentor a younger driver (Idris), and take his final stab at glory on the track as the younger driver’s teammate.
