Deadline is reporting that Craig Gillespie will be directing “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” for James Gunn’s freshly rebooted DCU. The plan is shoot this one in the fall. It’s only expected to hit theaters in 2027.
Gillespie, best known for his highly-stylized “I, Tonya,” “Lars and the Real Girl,” and last year’s “Dumb Money,” is a decent choice to direct. He’s also proven in the past that he can be bought and sold (“Cruella”). Ana Nogueira has been tapped to adapt the comic book for the big screen.
“House of Dragon” star Milly Alcock recently signed on to play Supergirl.” The role was down to just two actresses: Alcock and Meg Donnelly. Alcock prevailed, and that’s a good thing. As tepid as my interest in Gunn’s “Supergirl” is, I do have to admit that Alcock was far and away the best thing about “House of Dragon.” I hear she’s also great in the show “Upright.”
