Is Austin Powers coming back from cryogenic freeze? Mike Myers recently stayed mum when asked if another ‘Austin Powers’ was in the works.
I can now report that ‘Austin Powers 4’ is indeed a go. Jay Roach would also be back to direct the sequel. Warner Bros and New Line are partnering for this one, which has, quite secretly, been in development for, at least, a year now.
So, it’s clear, Myers wants to get another ‘Austin Powers’ made. I’d be fine with that, but how well has Fat Bastard aged in the current culture of body positivity? Terribly. It doesn’t help that Vern Troyer, who played Mini Me, sadly passed away in 2018. At least we’ll get Dr. Evil back, also played by Myers.
The Canadian actor first starred as Austin "Danger" Powers and Dr. Evil in 1997's “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery”. He would go on to portray popular character such as Fat Bastard and Goldmember, in the franchise's two follow-up installments: ‘The Spy Who Shagged Me’ (1999) and “Austin Powers in Goldmember” (2002).
