Puck’s Matthew Belloni is reporting that Aaron Sorkin is writing a movie about the capitol protests of January 6, 2021 in Washington DC. Yeah, incoming discourse on this one will be totally sane.
The project is being described by Sorkin as a quasi-sequel to “The Social Network” that will follow the rise of the online misinformation-for-profit that may have led to January 6. The full Belloni interview is supposed to drop this evening. One quote that has been released, and has been making the rounds, is this one from Sorkin:
“I blame Facebook for January 6”
Please don’t let David Fincher direct this.
Sorkin is coming off 2021’s middling Lucille Ball biopic “Being the Ricardos,” before that he had directed two other films, “Molly’s Game” and the Oscar-nominated “Trial of the Chicago 7.”
Although he’s now focused on directing, Sorkin is primarily known for the sharp scripts he produced in the ‘90s and ‘00s, and they include the likes of “A Few Good Men,” “The Social Network,” “Moneyball” and “Charlie Wilson’s War.”
