Is Sacha Baron Cohen getting “cancelled”?
Actress Rebel Wilson has been on a rampage of late, describing her horrible experiences in Cohen’s 2016 film, “The Brothers Grimsby.” Last week, Wilson alleged that Cohen had sent a cease and desist by trying to block her upcoming memoir “Rebel Rising” from being published.
It all stems from the bad experiences Wilson had while working on ‘Grimsby’. She’s saying Cohen was “bullying and gaslighting” her on set. Wilson added some context to her accusations while speaking with The Sunday Times … “It turned out to be the worst professional experience of my career,” the actress said, adding that she felt “disrespected on set.”
“It’s one thing for someone who is fat to exploit their size for comedy, but it’s another for somebody else to humiliate you,” Wilson said, also claiming all the ‘Grimsby’ costumes were fitted so audiences could “see all the cellulite on my thighs and a top to show the fattest part of my arm,” leaving her feeling “like I was something to be laughed at and degraded because of my size.”

While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of ‘The Brothers Grimsby.’
In “The Brothers Grimsby,” a football hooligan turned spy (Cohen) has a fetish for plus-sized women; ‘Precious’ herself, Gabourey Sidibe, is also the butt of fat jokes. It’s an unfunny comedy that’s well-known as the comedic nadir of Cohen’s career.
Wilson, best known for playing “Fat Amy” in “Pitch Perfect”, has slimmed down in the past few years. It also looks as though the roles have dried up ever since she lost all of that weight — her last credit was in 2022’s underseen “The Almond and the Seahorse.”
