According to Roger Friedman, corroborating DanielRPK’s previous intel, Kimberly Peirce will be directing and writing a remake of 1981 film noir “Body Heat,” via Warner Bros. Bad idea. The original was a product of its time.
In “Body Heat,” which was highly influenced by Billy Wilder’s classic “Double Indemnity,” Kathleen Turner played the conniving younger wife of an older wealthy man (Richard Crenna). She starts an affair with a local lawyer (William Hurt) and eventually convinces him to help her kill the hubby and run away with the money.
Peirce has been one of the most disappointing filmmakers, especially since her shattering 1999 film, “Boy’s Don’t Cry,” was such ana cclaimed debut. It’s been a struggle for her ever since. She’s directed just two films in the last two and a half decades — 2008’s “Stop-Loss” and her 2013 remake of “Carrie.”
