A resident of Truth or Consequences, NM (yes, that’s the name of the town) where filming on Ari Aster’s “Eddington” has been set for the last month, is spilling the beans on Aster’s film and it’s quite the twist.
SPOILERS BEWARE
Apparently, “Eddington” is a zombie movie. The exact nature of the zombies are vague. It is set during COVID, and the virus mutates. A special effects crew has been seen on-set, with 80% of the shoot occuring at night […]
We already know the film is about a Sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix), his wife (Emma Stone), the local mayor (Pedro Pascal) and a bunch of Q-Anon locals. It’s a wild idea to have Aster mix in COVID with a zombie outbreak. I like it.
Production on the film is now headed to Albuquerque for the next 5 weeks, then set to come back to Truth or Consequences for, at least, another week. Fun Fact: according to Apple Maps, the town just north of Truth or Consequences is called Elephant Butte. True story.
So, what we have here might be a neo-western Zombie flick that takes place during the pandemic, sprinkled with Q-Anon conspiracy theorists. “Eddington” has been described as an “ensemble film.” The COVID aspect of the plot is interesting given that Aster had written the film in 2019 and only inserted the pandemic in one of the final drafts of the script.
Aster (“Hereditary” and “Midsommar”) is coming off last year’s polarizing “Beau is Afraid.” A24 has produced all three of his films, so far, and “Eddington” will be their fourth collaboration together.
