Last October, I exclusively reported that George Miller’s “Furiosa” was eyeing a Cannes world premiere in 2024. Today, it’s been made official via press release.
The film will screen on Wednesday, May 15 at the Palais. It won’t be vying for the Palme d’Or either, “Furiosa” is set to play out of competition. If you remember, “Mad Max: Fury Road” also premiered out of competition at Cannes 2015 — it ended up being one of the more memorable (and now legendary) screenings on the Croisette.
Other films that could potentially premiere out of competiton at this year’s Cannes include Kevin Costner’s “Horizon,” Pixar’s “Inside Out 2,” and Ti West’s “MaXXXine.” The entire lineup for the 77th Cannes Film Festival will be revealed on April 11.
