Warner Bros recently held its annual earnings report, and according to THR, they might have already officialized the tax write off on “Coyote Vs Acme,” and, possibly, also “Salem’s Lot.”
According to the report, as part of an earnings filing, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed writing off $115 million in content due to abandoning films in the third quarter of 2023 as part of a “strategic realignment plan.”
Since “Coyote vs Acme” cost $70 million to produce, this means that it might not be the only film scrapped by Warner Bros — given the $115 million figure given by the studio, many are now speculating that “Salem’s Lot,” which cost around $40 million to produce, was the other victim. The math checks out.
Obviously, nothing has been confirmed by Warners, all of this is pure speculation, but I would have to imagine that this is not good news for either of these projects. The filmmakers and talent involved in these two films must be biting their nails tonight.
