In an interview with Vanity Fair, Barry Keoghan is not denying that he’s in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II.” At this point, it’s turning into the worst kept secret.
Keoghan had originally addressed his possible role as The Joker in Matt Reeves' The Batman - Part II, while chatting with E Talk. When asked about his return in the ‘Batman’ sequel, his response said it all. Way to keep it a secret, Barry.
I can't really say anything about that. It would be exciting, wouldn't it? To see the Joker come to life again. My smile says all, you know what I mean?
Keoghan’s Joker shows up near the end of “The Batman” as an unnamed Arkham Prisoner who converses with The Riddler (Paul Dano), but it soon becomes clear that he's supposed to be The Joker. Since then, there have been rumors he would have a far larger role in the sequel.
Also expected to return for the sequel are Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell. Of note, Dick Grayson, aka Robin, might also joining the cast this time around. Nothing’s really been confirmed.
“The Batman” was hailed as an ambitious return to form for the Caped Crusader. It was a near 3-hour movie that grossed $369.3 million in the United States, and $401.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $770.9 million.
Critics were also positively receptive towards the film. “The Batman” appeared in over 150 critics top 10 lists, making it the 11th most cited film of 2022.
Last we heard, “The Batman - Part Two” was eyeing an August 2024 production start. It’s set to be released in theaters on October 3, 2025.
