Paul Schrader’s “Oh, Canada” was submitted for Cannes, we’ll see if it gets in. All of this to say that the film is at the EFM market in Berlin and we have some first look images, which can be seen below.
The film, which clocks in at 91 minutes, was privately screened in NYC last month and I’ve heard great things about Richard Gere’s performance in this one. He plays a dying artist in the last stages of his creative life. Jacob Elordi plays a younger version of Gere’s character.
The film, based on Russell Banks’ 2021 novel “Foregone,” stars Gere, Elordi and Uma Thurman. This is said to be a very grim film about a health-stricken artist who comes to terms with his own life. It is said to parallel Schrader’s own health problems.
The film, based on Russell Banks’ 2021 novel “Foregone,” wrapped production last year. If health permits, I don’t think it’ll be Schrader’s final film. He’s already working on another script, and could very well be shooting it in late 2024.
