If you’re wondering what writer-director Cord Jefferson (“American Fiction”) will be doing next, then it looks like he’ll be delving far into genre territory:
“I want to do an erotic thriller and I’m also working on a neo-western that is also is like a noir,” he told Deadline. However, the erotic thriller might be his next film, which, he says, would be in the vein of “Fatal Attraction” and “Single White Female”.
Both of them have similar themes to what’s in American Fiction through a much, much different lens.
I adored Jefferson’s debut, “American Fiction,” which was filled with satirical sting, reminding me of Alexander Payne's earlier films. It mixed drama and comedy to ignite a socio-cultural conversation that is much needed today. I’d be curious to know what our readers thought of it.
