THR’s Borys Kit is reporting that Quentin Tarantino’s “The Movie Critic” will not go into production until early 2025. If you remember, before the strikes caused chaos on the schedule, Tarantino’s film was supposed to shoot in the fall of 2023.
The delays seems to have to do with Brad Pitt’s schedule. He’s going to be shooting Joseph Kosinski’s F1 film for most of the year. That film, just like Tarantino’s, was delayed, due to the actors strike.
Late last year, I reported that the strike had “completely derailed” momentum for Tarantino’s 10th and final film, and that, best case scenario, it wouldn’t be able to start production until much later in 2024. Now we know why. Pitt’s schedule was the problem.
You can bet that Tarantino will want to bring his final film to Cannes. So, we might be looking at a 2026 release date for this one. If that is indeed the case then it would be the longest gap between movies in Tarantino’s career. His last one was 2019’s “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.”
