Martin McDonagh is coming off the most acclaimed film of his career, 2022’s “The Banshees of Inisherin.” It looks like his next one will be bringing back some familiar faces.
McDonagh’s “Wild Horse” has been set up at Searchlight. The film has Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken attached to star. A 2025 shoot in the UK is being prepped up for this one.
In June, McDonagh was interviewed by Hong Kong outlet RTHK, and the filmmaker-playwright hinted that his next film would star star Walken, Rockwell and, potentially, Oscar Isaac:
Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell. I really want to do something with them. I think the next thing might be set in an Island, not in Ireland, like in ‘Banshees,’ but again to have the island be a character. So, that’s a scoop for you, I think that’s going to be the next thing.
No plot details have been revealed at this time for “Wild Horse,” and just that the film is set on an island. Rockwell already teamed up with the filmmaker on two of his films, Walken on one. Isaac, who is still not confirmed, has never been part of a McDonagh production.
As already mentioned, McDonagh is coming off ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ which received nine Oscar noms, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. His other works include “In Bruges,” “Seven Psychopaths” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
