The 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards have announced their nominees. “Anora” and “I Saw the TV Glow” lead the way with six nominations each.
The other big winners seem to be “Dídi,” “Janet Planet,” “Sing Sing,” “Ghostlight,” “The People’s Joker,” “In the Summers,” “The Substance,” and “Nickel Boys” racking up multiple nominations across the board.
You might be asking, what about Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist”? It was somehow snubbed in the Best Film category. The film only garnered one nomination and that’s for Corbet in the Directing category. Not even, presumptive Oscar frontrunner, Adrien Brody got in.
Another noteworthy snub is NYFCC winner RaMell Ross missing Best Director. By all accounts, it looks like Ali Abassi (“The Apprentice”) stole Ross’ nomination away from him.
The Independent Spirit Awards will be taking place on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Aidy Bryant will return as the host. The ceremony will be available to stream live on IMDb and Film Independent YouTube channels, and across other social platforms. You can find the full list of nominations, via Deadline.
