This is wild, if true. Let’s just put it down as a “rumor” until someone can get to the bottom of it. I’ve emailed a few contacts, and they haven’t heard anything about this. So, take it all with a major grain of salt.
Apparently, Sony is developing an “Air Force One” sequel, or maybe it’s just a reboot? Scooper Daniel Richtman isn’t quite sure either, but he’s hearing Harrison Ford, 82, who starred in the original, might be starring in this one. No director was mentioned in the report.
Five years ago, there were rumors going around that a sequel, titled “Air Force Two,” had been greenlit for development by Sony. This past January, screenwriter Andrew W. Marlowe admitted having considered the possibility of developing the sequel, but in the process, found many faults with the idea.
It has been nearly thirty years since the Wolfgang Petersen-directed action thriller which pitted Ford’s U.S. President against terrorists who hijack his presidential plane. The film co-starred Gary Oldman as the lead terrorist, Glenn Close as the Vice President, and some other notable character actors in supporting roles, including William H. Macy, Jurgen Prochnow, Dean Stockwell, and Paul Guilfoyle.
