Luca Guadagnino’s been a very busy man, having released two acclaimed 2024 films, “Challengers” and “Queer.” He’s also already shot “After the Hunt,” starring Julia Roberts, which is going to be released next year.
Guadagnino has a slew of projects percolating in the early or advanced stages of development, including “American Psycho,” “Separate Rooms,” “Leading Men,” “The Lord of the Flies” and “Sgt. Rock.” So, what’s next for him?
Deadline had previously reported that “Sgt. Rock,” starring Daniel Craig, was being set up as Guadagnino’s next film, and now Jeff Sneider is saying that production on the DCU film is supposed to begin next fall.
Hollywood has been trying to make a “Sgt. Rock” movie for many decades now. In the ‘80s, producer Joel Silver wanted Arnold Schwarzenegger to star as the titular hero. Then, in the aughts, Quentin Tarantino was offered to direct his own version. It turns out that Guadagnino and “Challengers” screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes will finally be the ones to bring it to the big screen.
