We’re not entirely sure what’s going on with Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ over at Netflix. Will it, or won’t it happen? There’s been much speculation surrounding this project, and until cameras roll, there will continue to be.
As it stands, we have no cast and no release date, but producer Amy Pascal is now telling Deadline that production is being eyed for July 2025. Pascal describes Gerwig’s vision as "A very new take on Narnia" and reveals that "it's all about rock and roll." Oh, boy.
It was less than 24 hours ago that Empire City reported on talks stalling between IMAX and Netflix after exhibitors (and studios) warned of the consequences that would occur if Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ was given screens for its potential November 2026 release.
What do we actually know about the project? Well, not much. It has been confirmed that Gerwig will be making two movies, one of them might be C.S. Lewis’ prequel, “The Magician’s Nephew,” and that Saoirse Ronan has had talks to star in it. Other than that, it’s all hush hush.
