Here’s the trailer for Bill Fishman’s “Waltzing With Brando,” still searching for a buyer. Billy Zane has most definitely landed his most attention-grabbing role in years as Marlon Brando. He looks and sounds exactly like the late actor’s twin.
“Waltzing With Brando,” an adaptation of Bernard Judge’s memoir of the same name, is set primarily from 1969 and 1974, during which Brando was preparing to star in “The Godfather” and “Last Tango in Paris” whilst making plans with Judge to create a paradise getaway on Tahiti.
Written and directed by Bill Fishman (“Tapeheads,” “Car 54,” “My Dinner with Jimi”), the film also stars Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite,” “Blades of Glory”), Richard Dreyfuss, Alaina Huffman (“The Perfection,” “Smallville”), Tia Carrera (“Waynes World”) and Mick Jagger’s son James Jagger (“Vinyl,” “The Outpost”).
“Waltzing With Brando” is set to screen at the Torino Film Festival, the Tahoe Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Given that it has skipped most of the big fall festivals, and that it’s directed by Fishman, I don’t expect strong reviews to pop up for this film, but it’s most definitely what one might call a curiosity.
