Despite Warner Bros refusing to report box office numbers for Clint Eastwood’s “Juror #2,” Deadline is reporting that the film, being dubbed as Eastwood’s “final” one, is set to earn a 3-day total of around $275K in just 35 screens.
More impressively, Eastwood’s film earned $5M internationally, including a whopping $3M in France where the filmmaker has been championed for many decades. There are currently no plans to theatrically expand “Juror #2” in the U.S. as I’m hearing Warner Bros has already set up a VOD date for the film in late November,
Meanwhile, Edward Berger’s “Conclave” continues to impress, smoking with a small -20% second weekend hold. The acclaimed Vatican thriller has grossed $15M in just two weeks of release. Much like Eastwood’s film, strong reviews are pushing it to a segment of the moviegoing audience hungry for non-IP and smartly conceived adult-oriented cinema.
Another indie success, Sean Baker’s “Anora” (Neon), continued its slow expansion with a strong $1.9M in just 235 locations; its estimated domestic gross now stands at $4M, and $6.4M worldwide. It has already made back its budget, and then some. It’ll be interesting to see how it does on 1000+ screens, which is the current plan for the film, before Thanksgiving weekend hits.
