Bret Easton Ellis is finally directing his first feature. The novelist and screenwriter will helm the horror film “Relapse.” In an episode of his excellent Podcast, he’s saying a March 2025 shoot is being eyed in Europe.
Ellis penned the screenplay about a man (played by Joseph Quinn) who witnesses a brutal death during a drug party and embarks on an existential crisis upon entering rehab (via Variety).
Many of Ellis’ novels have been adapted into films, most notably 2000’s “American Psycho.” His latest semi-autobiographical novel “The Shards,” is also set to be adapted into an HBO series — Ellis, and Kristoffer Borgli will be sharing directing duties on that one.
