Here’s Matthew Vaughn again. He seems to be everywhere these days. As reported earlier, he’s already planning to reboot “Kick-Ass,” and, these past three months, has been filming a secret film going by the working title “Project X.”
He’s now telling Deadline that he’s going to be directing a musical written by Damien Chazelle (“La La Land”). Such an awkward duo. Both filmmakers couldn’t be more different in terms of tone and style. Vaughn is all about muscular action. Chazelle has a more artful flair.
In case you don’t know, Vaughn is the director behind three ‘Kingsman’ movies, “Kick-Ass,” “X-Men: First Class” and the upcoming “Argylle.” A few of those are actually good (here’s looking at you “Kick-Ass”), but Chazelle writing a movie for Vaughn is certainly a twist.
Vaughn’s career was launched with his 2004 debut “Layer Cake,” a nifty little gangster film that starred Daniel Craig. He also directed Apple’s $200 million action flick “Argylle,” which is set for release on February 2nd.
