Just as Warner Bros pulled the plug on ”Batgirl”, Netflix has disavowed Halle Berry's sci-fi movie “The Morhership,” which reportedly won't be finished (via TheInSneider).
Writer-director Matt Charman’s film was shot in Boston in Summer 2021. It was never quite completed, and needed reshoots, but Netflix came to the conclusion that these reshoots were too expensive, and so it will permanently remain unreleased.
Here’s the synopsis:
One year after her husband mysteriously vanishes from their rural farm, single mother Sara Morse and her children discover a strange, extraterrestrial object underneath their home, which leads them to embark on a race to find their husband, father, and most importantly – the truth.
Will Netflix pull a Zaslav and do a tax write-off on this one? I’m not sure. They might as well if it means that the film will never be seeing the light of day. There is no word on how much “The Mothership” cost, but I’d blindly guess it’s in the $30-$50 million range.
