It’s quite amazing how the legendary Michael Caine is still acting in movies. He’s 90 years old and has “The Great Escaper” being released very soon in the UK.
The Oscar winner had previously told The Telegraph he was “sort of” retired already and that “The Great Escaper” might be his last film: “I am bloody 90 now, and I can’t walk properly and all that.”
A week later, he’s backtracking on those comments. It turns out that Caine has signed on to play Charles Darwin in an unspecified upcoming film that starts shooting in January. That’s what he tells The Guardian:
“Yeah. I play Charles Darwin. And that’ll be it. I won’t do another one after.”
Caine is an acting legend. Forget about the Christopher Nolan films he’s been in, his filmography is filled with great performances in such films as “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “Get Carter,” “Alfie,” “The Man Who Would Be King,” “The Quiet American,” “The Italian Job,” “Mona Lisa,” “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” and “Sleuth.”
