We haven’t heard much about Ti West’s “MaXXXine” which wrapped production in May. Just to refresh your memories, this is the Mia-Goth trilogy capper that started off with “X,” and then “Pearl.”
Goth is back for “MaXXXine,” which is said to take place in 1985, five years after “X,” as Goth’s “heroine” sets out in Hollywood to find fame. The film is again being produced by A24.
Not much is known about the direction West will take next with this film, but a source is now telling popular horror mag Scream that “MaXXXine” will be a “whodunit slasher.” It is also said to deal with the dangerous world of underground X filmmaking.
Giancarlo Esposito plays an agent for adult and Z-list film actresses, while Elizabeth Debicki is a film director. Michelle Monaghan and Bobby Canavale are LAPD detectives while Kevin Bacon is a private detective.
Goth is really hot these days. Her “Pearl” performance seems to have opened up a lot of doors for her career, and for good reason — she delivered one of the best performances of 2022, and absolutely deserved more recognition for it.
There is currently no release date for “MaXXXine.” All we know is that it’ll be released in 2024. Where will it premiere? Berlin? Sundance? SXSW? Cannes?
