Danny and Michael Philippou‘s “Talk to Me,” a small indie horror film that A24 bought at Sundance, opened with an impressive $10 million this past weekend. Who saw it? It’s a good horror movie with vision to spare.
In a new THR interview, the brothers confirm they‘ve already shot a prequel:
“We actually shot an entire Duckett prequel already. It’s told entirely through the perspective of mobile phones and social media [..] The mythology was so thick, and if A24 gave us the opportunity, we wouldn’t be able to resist.”
So, the brothers shot something that fleshes out the story of Duckett, the victim whose horrifying fate can be seen in the opening scene. Is it a short or an actual feature? They don’t elaborate. As much as I liked “Talk to Me,” I’m allergic to the idea of a prequel, or sequel. Just let the damn thing be.
