Apple has announced that Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” will no longer have a limited release on October 6th and will instead be release worldwide on October 20th. So, strike or no strike, this is coming out in 2023.
Apple Studios already has a Best Picture Oscar with “CODA.” They obviously want another one. I believe they have a major shot with the engrossing “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
The release date change could also have to do with “Oppenheimer”making $300 million domestically for Universal — although that film, also 3-hours, was driven by the ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon. Regardless, Apple are going for the big time with ‘Killers.’
Is the Oscar for Best Picture going to be between Nolan and Scorsese? That’s what pundits keep insinuating. I don’t see many fall movies with the kind of full-package that “Oppenheimer” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” offer. Two posters have also been unveiled for Scorsese’s film, which can be seen below.
