One of the hottest film festival tickets this year, at least in Europe, turns out to be Woody Allen’s “Coup de Chance.” Go figure. There’s still an audience for Allen’s movies. Telluride and Toronto wanted nothing to do with this movie.
Good luck finding a ticket for “Coup de Chance” at Venice, Allen’s film is screening at the Palabiennale (1760 seats) and the Palazzo del Cinema (1032 seats). Both showings are sold out.
Meanwhile, Allen is going to be in Barcelona for the Spanish premiere of the film, in a 1200 seat theatre, on September 17th. All tickets were sold in less than a day.
“Coup de Chance” is being released in France and Spain on September 27th. No U.S. distributor wants to touch this film. However, there is clearly still an audience willing to go see Allen’s films in Europe, and I’m sure there must be one in the States as well.
