According to her agent, Gerwig is now looking to move beyond the indie dramas she was known for: "Her ambition is not to be the biggest woman director, but [rather] a big studio director,” via The New Yorker.
That’s her decision and it should be respected. She needs to make a living, that’s understandable. So, anybody dying to see something in the same vein as “Lady Bird” will be disappointed.
This does make sense in the context of today’s news. After “Barbie,” Gerwig will team-up with Netflix on two “Chronicles of Narnia” movies. This project will be probably take up years of her life to make.
