Eli Roth’s feature version of videogame Borderlands has set an August 9th, 2024 release date, via Deadline. That’s more than a year from now.
Earlier this month, I wrote a piece called “Eli Roth’s ‘Borderlands’ is Currently in Post-Production Hell.” The title really speaks for itself. This could be any movie disaster in the making.
Filming on “Borderlands” had wrapped in July of 2021. Then there were reshoots, rewrites, delays and test-screenings after that. At some point, Roth had to step down to shoot another film and Tim Miller took over as the new director, mostly for the costly reshoots.
The cast includes Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis. The production budget for “Borderlands” has not leaked out, so it’s all speculation at this point, but it definitely wasn’t made cheap.
