Patrick Wilson’s “Insidious: The Red Door” is set to open at the top of the box-office this weekend with a cumulative, and projected, total of $31 million.
This is the fifth instalment of the ‘Insidious’ franchise and yet another indicator that the horror genre is the safest bet for box-office success in the pandemic era.
Did I watch “Insidious: The Red Door”? Of course not. Blumhouse only screened it for press on Thursday morning — its audience preview screenings started that very same evening.
Only trades and a select few bloggers were invited to the presser, which is always a bad sign. The result is that ‘Red Door’ currently stands at 47% rotten on RT and has a 45 on Metacritic.
