It goes without saying that if you hate the color pink then steer far away from Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.”
Greta Gerwig's film pays homage to the doll's iconic color by covering the set in pink paint, and apparently it caused disruption in production of the paint color.
The interiors magazine Architectural Digest, via Barbie’s production designer, revealed that the movie used so much pink paint on set that it caused an international shortage.
“I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much. The world ran out of pink.”
Gerwig wanted to create a feeling of "authentic artificiality" and even used a hand-painted backdrop of the sky and the mountains rather than CGI.
You can clearly see the color pink all over the trailers. It’s inescapable. That’s been a running joke for a few months now, how overcolored the entire thing is. Whether that translates into a good film is a whole other story.
“Barbie” is set to hit theaters on July 21 and features a star-studded cast, including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey; and Kate McKinnon.
