UPDATED: “Rated R For Sexuality, Nudity and Language.”
EARLIER: My inbox has been filled with readers who swear they just saw an ad for Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and that it’s Rated R! I’ve emailed Universal to get confirmation …
This intel is based on a new TV Spot for "Get Tickets Now" and the rating is shown at the bottom. Somebody, find me a screenshot!
This would be Nolan’s first R-rated movie in over 20 years, the last time that happened was with 2002’s “Insomnia.” Before that, “Memento” also garnered the same rating.
I always hoped Nolan would go back to R-rated filmmaking. There are some who complained that “Dunkirk” could have benefited from such a rating. This is absolutely great news and there should be no complaints about it — Nolan is swinging for the fences here.
Hey, the real Robert Oppenheimer was the self-proclaimed “destroyer of worlds,” that means something. It also means that Nolan most likely had more creative freedom with this latest epic of his, which clocks in at 3 hours.
This has turned out to be a major risk-taker for Nolan. A 180 minute film, partially shot in black and white that is neither sci-fi nor action. It’s a labor of love. The rivalry with “Barbie,” which shares the same release date, have always been ridiculous.
Cillian Murphy will play the father of the hydrogen bomb J. Robert Oppenheimer. A man who, despite inventing the deadly weapon, wanted to place International controls on his dangerous invention, post-Hiroshima.
“Oppenheimer” stars Murphy, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek and Robert Downey Jr.
