UPDATED: WoR reader Bryan is saying that the “Drive-Away Dolls” trailer plays right before “Asteroid City” … and it sounds great:
The trailer played ahead of my screening of Asteroid City last night. It looks fun! Like a typical old school Coen brothers flick with maybe a little less formal rigor (of which Joel demonstrated a bit too much with Macbeth.) Margaret Qualley really commits to the Southern accent and I’m excited to see Colman Domingo as the bad guy. Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon appear to be one scene cameos but they certainly add to the Russ Meyer vibe. This is for fans of “Raising Arizona” and “Burn After Reading.”
EARLIER: As a diehard Coenhead, I’m highly intrigued at the prospect of seeing what Ethan Coen has in store for us with his solo outing “Drive-Away Dolls.” A trailer has been rated and is ready to go (hopefully next week). The film, a lesbian road trip dark comedy set for September release, was written by Ethan and his wife Tricia Cooke. Cinematographer Ari Wegner (The Power of the Dog) is lensing. It stars Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo, Bill Camp and Matt Damon.
