On June 8, I wrote: “Corenswet and Brosnahan, please. That’d be the dream duo”. James Gunn listened and he’s cast both actors for his upcoming ‘Superman’ movie.
The Wrap is reporting David Corenswet has nabbed the coveted role of Superman in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman: Legacy.” Rachel Brosnahan has also been cast as Lois Lane.
Corenswet played the projectionist in “Pearl”, you could tell, just based on that small part, that he had charisma to spare. He beat out Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney for the role.
Hoult has actually now lost out on playing both Batman and Superman. There are reports that he might still be in the running to play villain Lex Luther in Gunn’s movie.
Meanwhile, contenders for Lois Lane included Emma Mackey , Phoebe Dynevor and Samara Weaving, but, as far as I’m concerned, it was Brosnahan’s to lose. This could be a great role for her.
DC Studios co-chief Gunn turned in a draft of “Superman: Legacy” five weeks ago, just days before the writers’ strike came into effect. The film is not expected to be affected by the strike, according to The Wrap.
Gunn will be shooting “Superman: Legacy” next year in Georgia.
He wrote the script and will direct the film which is said to feature a younger version of Superman. “Superman: Legacy” will be released on July 11, 2025. It will be the first film released as part of Gunn’s newly established DCEU.
